THE STUPIDS – The Kids Don’t like It (Boss Tuneage) -

Maaaan they’re sound good and new and in good health, real breath of fresh air kicking away the stale stench of rancid hairspray and hot topic punk rock marketing... The Stupids are back, feel the suck! And yeah, like we said when they put out that single a few months ago; a first, a born again band, sounding better than ever and like they’re doing it for something like the right reasons rather than to just cash in on former glories... far too many fat old middle aged bands cynically reforming when they really weren’t that good in the first place. First new album in twenty one years and some serious speed-punk thrashing moshing jumping off the speaker stacks skate skate skate like fugg in to the side of a ten ton truck. Still all the irreverent humour and that we don’t give a shit attitude, sounding like they’re having a blast and not taking themselves too seriously while making a rather seriously good album... Spot on production, just the right side of raw, alive with energy and thrashing speed and are you sure this is the real Stupids and not a bunch of fresh faced new kids on the block making their first record? This can’t be a bunch of middle age punks? This might just be the Ipswich band’s best album ever! A rip cruncher of an album, it’ll bring a little tear to your eye, you’ll be wanting to go stick the carpet at the Hammy Clarendon... No no no, scratch that, this is now, oh watch out, the kids are back! Serious speed-metal-thrashing bloody-knee skateboarding wholesomeness punk rawk goodness for yer, think we’ll start a zine or something...  Organart

The Kids Don't Like It

As the first British band to look across the Atlantic towards the USA's burgeoning hardcore scene for inspiration, The Stupids' status as pioneers or plagiarists is debatable. More clear - cut, however, on this, their first album in 21 years, is just how strong the songs are. Long since crowned the kings of thrash- punk, The Stupids now prove their outstanding songwriting talents. The infectious melodies recall the 'revolution summer' of '85, while elsewhere there are plenty of monstrous riffs and pummelling drums to sink your teeth into. The kids don't know what they're missing.

Alex Andrews, Rocksound magazine

Wow! Legendary skatepunk band The Stupids join this year’s hardcore stage lineup alongside two of the countries’ most exciting current hardcore bands - Blackhole and Dead Swans.

Without a doubt one of the most influential hardcore bands in the world, The Stupids formed in the eighties and took US hardcore to a new level, making it faster and more intense. After touring the US, Australia and Europe, releasing classics like Peruvian Vacation and recording three renowned sessions on the John Peel show, the band eventually split in 1989, but they’re back at this year’s Offset!

Stupids – The Kids Don’t Like It (Boss Tunage)

Bloody hell, a brand new Stupids album, amazing! I guess I got into these guys around about the year 2000 (when I was 20) by this point they had already been split up for 13 years, so it was incredible to hear that a new album was coming out an amazing 21 years after their last one! For those who don’t know the Stupids, where the hell have you lived, they literally helped create and define a whole new scene of UK hardcore in the 80’s and their influence is plain to see and hear when you listen back to those classic albums from back in the day. I’m pleased to say that this doesn’t sound at all like an album from three guys that most be in their 40’s, in fact it’s so fast and youthful, its more like the kind of thing that angry young teenagers normally play. Yeah this has everything that I love about hardcore-skate-punk style stuff, its fast but not incomprehensible with a fair bit of melody and a great production, in fact the 16 tracks on here are easily up there with the greatest material they have ever released. I’m pleased to say that they are also gigging and I went to see em at Rebellion which would have been incredible if only the sound wasn’t so bloody hideous. Still, another legendary band to cross of my ‘to see list’ I would highly recommend this album and anyone who hasn’t got any of their older stuff, make sure you get a hold of that to, they have all been recently re-issued – yeah!
